Lifelong Passions Lead to Legacy Support

Joseph F. Haro

Joseph F. Haro first came to Philadelphia to earn his Masters of Education from Temple University. His love for education eventually led him to become a weekend guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Joe led tours for almost 40 years and touched the lives of thousands of visitors.

In 2014, Joe made the wonderful decision to include the PMA in his estate plan and also set up a charitable gift annuity. By informing the museum of this planned gift, Joe was welcomed into the Fiske Kimball Society, a group of individuals who have made PMA part of their legacies as well. When Joe passed away in 2020, his bequest was realized, and the Joseph F. Haro Endowment Fund was formed. This endowment supports the museum guides program and honors Joe’s four decades of service as a guide in perpetuity.

Whether you have been a member for decades or are new to philanthropic giving, you can help us fulfill our mission in service of the community by also including the museum in your estate plan. Many planned gifts do not diminish the assets available to you and some provide income for life. Options for making a planned gift include bequests; naming the museum as a beneficiary of your IRA, donor-advised fund, or life insurance policy; charitable gift annuities; and more.

Last year, we welcomed 16 new members into the Fiske Kimball Society, and legacy gifts totaled more than $8 million. These funds impact initiatives that matter most to Fiske Kimball Society members, from education to exhibitions to acquisitions of art for the permanent collection. We hope you will consider taking this generous step as well.
